KOREA TRAVEL CARD and Myeongdong Merchants Association (hereinafter referred to as Myeongdong Association) have signed an MOU agreement to provide a wide range of travel services to foreign visitors in Myeongdong. The MOU signing ceremony took place on the 26th, with Kang Tae-eun, the chairman of the Myeongdong Association, and Do Hae-yong, the CEO of inbound tourism startup RedTable, among the attendees. The Myeongdong Association, established in September 2021, has a membership of various businesses in Myeongdong, including food, beauty, and fashion. KOREA TRAVEL CARD, a prepaid card for foreign travelers launched by RedTable, combines transportation card functions essential for foreigners traveling in Korea with card payment functions that allow various discounts through partnerships. The card offers up to 50% discounts in transportation, payment, shopping, tourism, and food, making it a unique feature. Through this agreement, RedTable will actively support the revitalization of foreign tourism in Myeongdong by developing products for foreign visitors, conducting global marketing and promotion for Myeongdong, and analyzing and utilizing big data for the Myeongdong area. After the MOU agreement, both organizations plan to produce maps and videos of Myeongdong streets to make it easier for inbound tourists visiting Myeongdong for the first time to travel. They also plan to analyze immigration and sales databases to develop convenient courses for tourists, connecting various categories of stores such as department stores, duty-free shops, Namsan, and Myeongdong. This is expected to be a key factor in increasing the number of foreign tourists, as it can connect shopping, transportation, and dining options. The agreement between the two organizations is expected to increase the use of KOREA TRAVEL CARD in Myeongdong and enhance competitiveness in the inbound tourism market, providing more convenient and enjoyable travel experiences for global travelers. Representatives from KOREA TRAVEL CARD and the Myeongdong Association stated that they will strive to provide customers with a more abundant travel experience through better services and benefits. The agreement between the two organizations is expected to bring positive changes, such as the revitalization of the Myeongdong area in the active global travel market and the expansion of convenient and secure card payment methods.
