KOREA TRAVEL CARD and the Myeongdong Merchants Association (hereinafter referred to as the Association) have signed an MOU agreement to provide a wide range of travel services to foreign visitors in Myeongdong. The MOU signing ceremony took place on the 26th, with the participation of Kang Tae-eun, the chairman of the Association, and Do Hae-yong, the CEO of inbound tourism startup RedTable. The Association, established in September 2021, has a membership of various businesses in Myeongdong, including food, beauty, and fashion. KOREA TRAVEL CARD, launched by RedTable, is a prepaid card for foreign travelers that combines transportation card functions essential for traveling in Korea and card payment functions that offer various discounts through partnerships. The card offers up to 50% discounts in transportation, payment, shopping, tourism, and dining. Through this agreement, RedTable will actively support the revitalization of foreign tourism in Myeongdong by developing products for foreign visitors, conducting global marketing and promotion for Myeongdong, and analyzing and utilizing big data from the Myeongdong area. After the MOU agreement, both organizations plan to produce maps and videos of Myeongdong streets to provide convenience for inbound tourists visiting Myeongdong for the first time. They also plan to analyze immigration and sales databases to develop travel routes that are convenient for tourists, connecting various categories of stores such as department stores, duty-free shops, Namsan, and Myeongdong. This is expected to be a key factor in increasing the number of foreign tourists visiting Myeongdong. The agreement between the two organizations is expected to increase the use of KOREA TRAVEL CARD in Myeongdong and enhance competitiveness in the inbound tourism market, providing global travelers with a more convenient and enjoyable travel experience. Representatives from KOREA TRAVEL CARD and the Myeongdong Merchants Association stated that they will strive to provide customers with a more abundant travel experience through better services and benefits. The agreement between the two organizations is expected to bring positive changes, such as the revitalization of the Myeongdong area in the global travel market and the expansion of convenient and safe card payment methods, in the midst of the ongoing pandemic.
